How active is the first guild wars i'm not a big fan of the second one i used to play a lot back in the day...

The answer is a bit complex.
Not nearly as active as it was in its day (nightfall release til eye of the north release), and with 4 campaigns for peeps to play in and heroes---not as active as it could be.
Yes there are tons of people still playing, guilds are recruiting and pugs are still playing (mostly zaishen stuff).
so active, yet not as much as it had been and certainly a lot less after the second one came out, but picking up again since you are not alone with your reaction.
